Walk the England Coast Path – Easington to Filey
The England Coast Path from Easington to Filey is not yet in place and there are no current options to walk the section between Easington and Bridlington, though there’s a right of way onward to Flamborough Head that continues to Speeton, with road walking needed to reach the open section of England Coast Path from Filey onward.
Natural England state
Natural England has begun to investigate how to improve coastal access along a 95 km stretch of coast in North Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire between Easington and Filey Brigg. This new access is expected to be ready in 2020.
Officers from North Yorkshire County Council and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council are providing expert local advice and helping to ensure there is full consultation with local interests during the development of the route.
Up to date information can be found here, with maps providing an idea of where this section will go.

As the route involves some significant sections on Main Roads, we’ll publish a map once the official route is in place.
From Easington, the coast northwards has been eroded and villages lost, so any footpaths have long been lost to the North Sea. The only significant section that can currently be walked is the Headlands Way around Flamborough Head.

Welcome to Walking the England Coast Path.
The original online guidebook to the brand new National Trail around the English Coastline.
In 2020, England will join Wales in having a long distance trail along it’s entire coastline, a distance of around 4,500 km. The path is made possible due to new laws that allow open access to the English coastline, including what’s known as ‘spreading room’ to allow for future changes in the coastline.
The work to open the England Coast Path is ongoing, with all the sections being added and detailed here as they are officially opened. We may also include information on those sections that are not yet open, and where there’s an existing footpath or even national trail, will include a relevant map.
For the latest news on each section of the England Coast Path, visit the official government site:Ā here
Each section of the England Coast Path will be detailed with a route map, photos and information of what to see and do along the way. This will include a totally free business directory and a beach guide.
We can’t wait for the official opening!!
